Buckle up, I had about enough time to put my hands up. That was about it.

So to sum this up, The cops were chasing these guys, and they crossed the double yellow, to pass a car in front of them.  We were on the other side of that double yellow line, and they hit us.  Airbags, seat belt, and we are still here.  Including my 2 kids, who were in car seats. <-------------Important to use car seats for kids who are young.  The 4 point harness really did wonders, some have 5 point. This is a Toyota Corolla, 1996 4star crash rating.  The dashboard area lowered, hurting my wife who was driving, she had about 3 seconds to react. The other car was a 5 star crash rating, no intrusion into the cab area. Coincidentally if you had to be hit by a car, the Toyota Avalon had the lowest death rate in head on collisions.  The worst was the ford f150, usually for the other guy. Please buckle up, it happened so fast and without any warning.   You never know...

Benjamin Button had a scene that was like this.

The part in benjamin Button, where the main actress gets hit by a car ending her dance career was a little like this.  THey had a 5 min montage where they depicted all of the events leading up to the crash.

Before I saw the movie I would think the same things.  My wife is a teacher, and the day of the accident, she calls me in the morning.  The air conditioners broke that day at her school, so everyone was sent home.  We went to the island to Ikea for lunch, stopped off at party city our there for some items for My son's birthday, went home.

I think, if the airconditioner hadn't broken we would of never been there, or maybe if we didn't stop at party city.   I seem to remember going back for glow in the dark stars for my son's bedroom cieling.  If I didn't go back...  The light we stopped at where we almost made it through, I remember saying to my wife go go, but she stopped at the light.  Things like That all seem insignificant at the time.  I guess fate is something you can't change, because you don't know what's going to happen.  If I knew I would've never even gotten into the car that day.

I suppose that saying "luck favors the prepared" is the only thing that makes me not afraid to go into cars again.

We bought a 5 star crash rated car as the replacement.  New tires, no skimping on crappy ones.

What else can we do, drive safer, avoid driving in the rain, I don' t know.  If it's going to happen again,

which things are going to be beyond my control, I hope I've prepared enough...

Thank goodness we all are ok.
